Proverbs 4:14-15 - Don’t do as the wicked do, and don’t follow the path of evildoers. Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way. Turn away and keep moving.
Dear heavenly Father, I pray for the children and youth at AHC, that they will not fall into the temptation of negative peer pressure. They will overcome the strong urge of always wanting to be accepted by their peers and be popular. I pray that they will stand tall and not compromise their morals or participate in sinful behaviors just to “fit in.” I declare, they will continue to recognize the Holy Spirit’s voice and not ignore His warnings. They will realize the benefits of His voice and not allow their hearts to become hard.
I pray that they recognize that sin unmakes them, and our actions have consequences. Some actions are only temporary but others can last a lifetime. Falling into peer pressure can seem innocent almost, satisfying in the moment, but we start to lose ourselves. Our character suddenly will take a hit and, if we are not careful, our witness becomes tainted. Growing in character takes time, testing and perseverance. Let them recognize the importance of their character and that there is a way out of the temptation of peer pressure. I declare over them 1 Corinthians 10:13 - The temptations In your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
Finally, have them recognize they are sons and daughters in Christ. Though they are still growing into the person Jesus has called them to be, they are uniquely made. They won’t look at people pleasing as a way of being accepted or have their lives shaped. They will be influenced by those who are godly influences in their lives as well as what is written in Your word! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
