Children - Day 10 - Discipline

Day 10 – Discipline

Lord, I pray for __________.  I thank you that they are my children.  Thank you for the responsibility I have to bring discipline and spur on maturity in their lives.  I pray you would help me to never discipline from a place of anger or my own insecurity.  Help me to use times of disciplines to teach, train, and equip their hearts and minds.  In these moments, help them to see love and compassion.  I pray that shame and condemnation do not stick. Lord, cause them to not fight the discipline you are bringing to their lives through the vehicle of “parent.”  Draw things out of their hearts to the surface so that growth can happen.  I pray that their responses would be full of faith, love, and hope – not anger.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Hebrews 12:5-7 - And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”  Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?
