Jesus, as marriage is truly a life lived of give and take, would you cause us to continually put the needs of the other spouse before the needs of ourselves. Help me to not be self-serving or self-centered, but always consider my spouse’s needs above my own. In humility, cause us to function as Christ did. “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility, considering others better than themselves.” (Phil. 2:3) Let this be characteristic of our marriage in EVERY season. In Jesus’ name, amen.
