Day 15 - Godly Friends

(Proverbs 13:20; Proverbs 17:17; Hebrews 10: 24; I Thessalonians 5:11)

1 Corinthians 15:33 tells us “Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company ruins good morals.’” So, loving Father, I stand in the gap to ask that You provide godly, faithful friends who love Jesus for all of my grandchildren. Please put friends in their lives who will love at all times and not betray. If they currently have friends who are a bad influence, I ask that You would shift circumstances so that friendship with that person is no longer possible.

Give my grandchildren hearts of discernment as they choose with whom to grow deeper friendships. May they gravitate towards the wise and so become wise, not with fools who will cause them to suffer harm. May they learn at a young age that Jesus is the best friend, one they can always depend on and who will always be present in their times of need. And may they recognize how healthy it is to have friends across the generations. Lay my grandchildren on the hearts of older and wiser Christians who will reach out to love them, listen to them, be available to them, and give godly advice when needed.

Teach my grandchildren how to be a good friend and so attract the right kind of companions. Give them hearts to stimulate one another to love and good works, to encourage and build one another up. Give them a friend who is willing to tell them what they need to hear, speaking the truth in love, rather than flattering them. Thank You, God, for being active in this crucial area of my grandchildren’s lives.

 In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
