Day 19 - Work Ethic
(Proverbs 10:4; 12: 24, 27; 14:23; Romans 12:11; Ecclesiastes 9:10; Proverbs 22:29; Acts 20:35; Psalm 90:17)
Heavenly Father, In the beginning, You were the author of work, giving Adam a job that had purpose and meaning. As my grandchildren grow, may their parents have wisdom and common sense about how to foster a healthy view of work and give their children opportunities to develop the habit of working hard. Your Word says that the hand of the diligent makes rich, the precious possession of a man is diligence, that in all labor there is profit, and that the hand of the diligent will rule. May this trait of constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken take root and grow in my grandchildren’s lives. As they learn to work hard in the natural, may this diligence then translate into their desire to work heartily for the Lord, serving You with fervency of spirit.
I pray that a spirit of laziness will not have a place in _____________’s lives. Give them the perspective that everything they do is for Your glory and so whatever their hand finds to do, they will do it with all their might. Give them the understanding that while they are young, school and helping family are Your primary arenas of work for them. Thank You that as my grandchildren learn to work hard and well, they will develop a reputation that goes before them to give them favor with employers and figures of authority in their lives. They will enjoy the fruit of their labor and have the means to help the needy and to sow into Your kingdom. May they experience the truth that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
I ask that the favor of the Lord our God be upon ____________, to establish the work of their hands, not only in the arena of everyday chores and work opportunities, but also in their life vocation.
