Day 25 - Future Spouses
(James 1:5; Mark 10:6-9; 2 Corinthians 6:14; Hebrews 13:4; Ephesians 5:21-31)
Heavenly Father, I pray for our grandchildren and their future spouses. For any who may be called to singleness, I ask for grace for them to walk in peace and contentment in that journey. For all of them, I pray that they would grasp the truth that the single most important component of a successful marriage is their own personal commitment to Christ and His holiness. Give them the vision to become the right person more than looking for the right person. May they wait upon You for the right time and the right relationship, asking You for wisdom in this choice. Cause them to desire the advice of their parents and other godly adults who love them as they navigate the season of choosing a mate. I pray that dating and being in a relationship will not consume their thoughts, actions, decisions and energy, but that they would pour themselves into knowing and serving You and growing in Christlikeness, surrendering the meeting of their future spouse to Your perfect timing. Give them convictions about purity and honor as they get to know one another.
Marriage between one man and one woman is Your idea, Creator God. Protect my grandchildren from any confusion in this arena. Prevent them from pursuing any attraction to a person who does not know You as Savior and Lord so that they will not be unequally yoked. I pray against the curse of divorce, that it may not touch my grandchildren’s marriages. They will honor marriage and remain faithful to one another and so avoid the pain and judgment of immorality and adultery. Once married, may their love for God be the strength that enables them to love their spouse as You love them. I pray that You would bless their union with the fruit of the womb, that a godly legacy may continue with their family. May their union reflect the covenant-keeping love of Christ for His church.
