Day 9 - Growing in Wisdom
Luke 2:52 - And Jesus kept growing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.
Dear God,
Proverbs tells us that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. So in these foundational years of my grandchildren’s lives, I pray that a healthy reverence for You would grow in their hearts. I cry out for my grandchildren according to Your own heart’s cry in Deuteronomy 5:29, “Oh that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear [You] and keep all [Your] commandments always, that it may be well with them and with their sons forever.” Help them to realize that You are the source of all true wisdom.
May they hunger after Your Word, even at a young age, so that they become wise in Your ways. May they have discernment to recognize the false truths that they are bombarded with daily from the world. Enable them to see that their parents and grandparents are often Your agents of speaking wisdom into their lives. Give them soft, humble, learner’s hearts that “will hear and increase in learning…and will acquire wise counsel” (Proverbs 1:5). Help me to be mindful of passing on wisdom from the Bible, not just information, to my grandchildren as teachable moments arise.
“Let them fear You while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations” (Psalm 72:5).
