Day 20 – The Lost

I know when I was first “on fire” for the Lord, there was an urgency in my spirit to tell people about Jesus.  C.S. Lewis’s statement would often echo in my spirit: “You’ve never met a mere mortal.”  A heart for the lost runs in tandem with a heart on fire for the Lord, a revived heart.

Since then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men…for Christ’s love compels us; because we are convinced that one died for all and therefore all died.  2 Corinthians 5:11,14

Lord, thank You for Your lovingkindness and longsuffering with me.  You have done Your part, completely.  You leave nothing undone!  Thank You for reminding me today of the extent and completeness of Your love.  Thank You for pouring Your lifeblood out on the cross for all mankind, all around the world, for all of history.

Lord, I am reminded of the truth that we will give an account for our stewardship:  how we live our lives, what we do with our resources, and the extent to which we walk out our callings.  I am reminded that the things which are everlasting is fruit born in Christ.  Everlasting things are of gold, silver, and precious jewels – not wood, hay, or stubble.  Renew my mind with the truth of eternal rewards.

From the backdrop of Your completed work and the fact that I will give an account, spur on a passion and desire to reach the lost.  From a place of love for people and You, let me be quick to follow Your promptings.  I know You prompt and I confess that often I don’t live as one with a willing heart to respond.  I repent and thank You for enabling grace to make the most of every opportunity.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
