I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5
Oh Lord, I’ve always been challenged by the words of John the Baptist – that You must increase, and I must decrease. I recognize that my human nature is not to be “low.” In my own heart, my tendency is to stand tall, raise up, climb the ladder, and make myself known. I recognize that throughout my life, I’ve given myself to a spirit of pride instead of walking in a spirit of humility by the power of the Holy Spirit. I know that You oppose the proud but give grace to the humble. Oh Lord, in no way do I want to set myself up in opposition to Your ways or Your kingdom.
I confess that many times I’ve made much of myself. I know and acknowledge that without You, I am nothing. You are the One who establishes, empowers, draws, gifts, and sustains. Lord, as I come to the place of needing You and “decreasing” in my own perception, reveal Yourself. Increase in my life. Your ways. Your words. Your power. Your grace. Your fame. Lord, glorify Your name in all the earth, especially in my life. My life for Your honor! My life for Your purposes! My life for Your glory! Be lifted up in my life and start today.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
