Day 27 – Seek Me

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.  Matthew 5:6

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart.  I will be found by you.  Jeremiah 29:13

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, Oh God.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When can I go and meet with God?  Psalm 42:1-2

Oh Lord, I hear Your words ringing out, “Do you want to walk in blessing?  Then hunger and thirst for what is right!  I will fill you.  When you seek me, you will be able to find me.”  Father, I am choosing to posture myself in this way – yet give me grace to do so even more.  I give myself over to hunger in this season.  Often, we are a people that don’t “sit” well in our natural hunger.  It causes irritability, physical struggles, and we go on a search for something to satisfy it.  When a deer is thirsty, it pants for the water.

My tendency is to satisfy my hunger and thirst in other ways.  My tendency is to fill up on “junk food” and things that don’t quench my parched soul.  I engorge on media, hobbies, friends, work, projects, etc.  Many times the things I consume to fill the hunger are not evil, but they don’t satisfy.  Lord, today I am reminded that the only thing that satisfies is food that You provide.  I want to seek that food.

Thank You that You are there and ready when we start looking.  Thank You for faithfully maintaining Your post.  Thank You that I can meet with You, the Living God.  You initiated our relationship; You make it possible.  Oh Lord, thank You.  My heart’s cry today is, “More, more, more!”  I want more of You, Your Word, Your presence, Your power, Your revelation, Your truth, and Your glory to be made known.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
